Unusual, innovative and technically very puristically implemented: Evgenia Gostrer’s film “Zeitwellen” is currently successfully on Europareise.
The film ran at the backup festival in Weimar http://www.backup-festival.de/ and the ff600 Festival in Ljubljana / Slovenia http://www.festival600.org/index_eng.htm. At the ff600 festival the film received the first prize in the category “Animation”. In September, “Zeitwellen” is shown at the Budapest Shortfilm Festival (busho) http://www.busho.hu/?menuID=fesztival&pageID=hirek&lang=en.
The 2 minutes long film is realized in dough and shows objects and figures, which emerge from a surface and disappear again. It is about thinking about here and now, to let human perception, memories, reality and fantasy merge into a whole.
With the International Trickfilmfestival Stuttgart http://www.itfs.de/, the “DRÜMICH” exhibition at the Stuttgarter Metropol Kino ended on May 10th. During the festival there were interactive works of the class. The way of the festival visitors to the cinema hall was lined with exciting experiences!
All exhibited works tried to provide the visitors with innovative ideas and partly very sophisticated technology a special and unexpected animation experience. The range of the 11 contributions from the mysterious loop puzzle to the trick-film fitness machine ranged. Once you were a player of God, sometimes you were able to survive the little Piotr on the cold roads of Russia and in the meantime one caught a glimpse through the forbidden doorhole. Thus, the Kassel works were able to elicit almost every visitor a smile or at least a smirk and sweeten the walk to the cinema hall. For the artistic director of the festival, Ulrich Wegenast, it was clear that the “DRUCK ME” exhibition should again be a welcome part of the festival next year – with new works and perhaps also in a different place.
On 17 May 2009, the most promising films were presented by German young filmmakers in Cannes. Even films by students of animation class Kassel were represented.
Both the sisters Ines Christine Geisser and Kirsten Carina Geisser and Tobias Bilgeri were invited to participate in the “Next Generation 2009” contest, the most important film festival. The animation film “Rosarot” by Ines Christine und Kirsten Carina Geisser tells humorously about the irritations and needs of lovers. Ines Christine Geisser has been studying at the Kunsthochschule Kassel since 2006 and attends the illustration and the cartoon film class. Her sister Kirsten Carina Geisser visits the Kunsthochschule Kassel as a guest student.
In the animation “You are my hero”, which is from Tobias Bilgeri, the story of a knight is told, which is constantly going into battle. Even if his sword, after succesfully beating battles, smells suspiciously of tomato juice, the wife of the knight keeps faithful to her hero. Only when the knight goes without the sword, does she decide to get to the bottom of the matter.
On Sunday, May 17, 2009, the films were shown at STAR Cinema in Cannes and are shown following festivals in Madrid, Paris, London, Moscow and New York.

Interactive animation installations by the students of the Kunsthochschule Kassel at the 16th International Trickfilmfestival Stuttgart 2009.
How is it, as Almighty God, to wander over the earth? Can you prevent the little Pyotr from freezing on the streets of Russia? Will you be able to elicit your own piece of music from the mysterious deep sea? And: Can you train the aerobic lady to a true “woman with muscles”?
At the 16th International Trickfilmfestival Stuttgart, the audience from 5 to 10 May 2009 has the opportunity to find the answer to these questions. After all, the students of the Trickfilmklasse and the Neue Medien class of the Kunsthochschule Kassel have united themselves to a new concept: Animators and programmers try together to break the conventional genre animation film by leaving the linear thread of a story behind them. The result: the viewer decides what will happen. He becomes a player, a director, an actor. The movie experience will be direct! Interactive! Kassel Interactive!

The Trickfilmklasse invited people to the Bali cinema on the 11th and 12th of February at TRICKREICH 2009, and numerous cartoon film lovers from Kassel have come. On both days, the evening performances of the annual productions we a complete success, and only a few seats were available in the large cinema hall. Also in the press coverage and in the Hessian Broadcoasting ( Hessischer Rundfunk ) http://www.hr-online.de/ the annual presentation of the Trickfilm department was very well received.
Of course, the next year will also be invited to a cinema evening to present the newly created films to the public.
Once again, the Trickfilmklasse of the Kunsthochschule Kassel will show you their latest work, which will deal with the basic questions of life as usual: Will Ferdi finally learn to fly? What is the rhythm of the everyday? Is not stupidity the highest form of happiness? What does “Leitplanke” actually mean in English? And is there really sensual pornography, or is in the end everything glisch and glamour? The audience has the unique ( twofold ) opportunity to experience the answers to these questions while experiencing an entertaining Trickfilm evening: on the 11th and the 12th February 2009, at 10 pm, in the big BALI cinema. http://www.balikinos.de/
